Depict films
First film –
Picking sides
My opinion the film is a representation of how conflict
effects things. The film starts off clam and relaxing as you can see a tiny
boat with a person and a dog. The colour also gives off calming feeling as it
is mostly a mix of blue and orange. Next the a large boat sails up and stops
before the tiny one, and you can see how insignificant the boat is by having
this extreme wide shot to get the huge boat in the picture. Then another boat
comes along that is just as big and an alarm can be heard and seen. This shows
that something that may be dangerous might happen by the use of the red colour
and the loud sound. Then the two boast start waring, as time goes the sky turns
red and the weapons used become more advanced to indicate time moving on and as
the weapons become more powerful the two boats destroy each other leaving the
tiny boat left. In one way it is funny due to how over the top the scene and
situation is and the use of animation suits the style and tone of the film.
However I feel like there is a message behind the animation, and that is that
this is a representation of how war is. Each side want to destroy each other
and will make better weapons to do this with, however like this film people may
make a weapon that may end up destroy one another and it may be our own demise.
At the end a dolphin swims up to the tiny boat and then swims off with the tiny
boat following it. This shows how the world will move on and just get back on
route to what was happening before leaving what happened in the past. I like
the animation of how simple it is, but is gets across the message and you can
identify everything, even if it just uses the colour black, it also simplifies
the film, as no emotion is shown as there is no detailed faces, the scene sets
up the feelings and expressions by the use of the simple animation, sounds and
the colours that are used in the background or for the explosions.
